This 3/4 page advertisement from the December 1, 1963 Detroit News showcases several of the anchor stores at Wonderland in its open air heyday.
All the sales listed were exclusive to that mall's stores on that day only.
Federal's were pushing men's Silver Waldorf sox at 44 cents a pair. Woolworth's had gift wrap, Brach's chocolates amd boxed Christmas cards on sale. Kresge's was peddling toys including Etch-A-Sketch for $1.77 and a Barbie Wrist Watch for the ungodly price of $6.66. Rose Jewelers had President's Plates for sale at $1. They surely became collector's items so shortly after JFK's murder. Burton's Gal had mohair sweaters and wool tapered pants on sale. And of course, photographs with Santa were prerequisite.
